Pantry and Recycling Protocol

A signed copy of this document hung on our refrigerator for many years until I recycled it recently. In retrospect, it did not help one little bit. In fact, the only thing that did help was having Wells scrub the stinking cat food goo from the recycling bin one hot summer day…

Rules and Guidelines for Recycling and General Pantry Protocol

Red Recycling Bin in Pantry – Glass, Plastic (no type 3 or 6) and Cans, rinsed and relatively dry. Under no circumstances should the following items be placed in the bin: Un-rinsed, dirty, dripping, stinking cat food cans or beer containers; junk mail or paper; cardboard.

Box marked “Magazines Only” in Pantry – Magazines only (includes catalogs)

Large Paper Bag in Dining Room – All junk mail and scrap paper. No trash.

Red Recycling Bin on Sun Porch – Newspapers, stacked somewhat neatly.

There are 3 bags on the floor in the pantry. One is for handled shopping bags, one is for non-handled paper bags, and the last is for gift bags. If you have a bag that will not fit into one of these, throw it away! Do not put plastic bags in here (there is a plastic bag holder on the back of the bathroom door). Do not just throw stuff randomly in the direction of the floor! Please observe the general organizational themes and maintain them. Please do not feed the mice – avoid spilling pet food in the pantry.
